DELIVERY (Australia only)
How is Freight calculated?
The
Santos Online Store provides 3 options for delivery to our valued customers. We aim to
provide you with the most economical and/or fastest method depending on where you are and
how much you order. Some destinations or weights are better served by Australia Post,
others by the courier companies.
If you enter your postcode into the freight
calculator at the start of your shopping you will be able to view the freight charge
options as you go along.
AUSTRALIA POST: If you live off the
major routes Australia Post is generally cheaper and also if you only want small amounts
and are in NSW. They have a variable base rate plus a variable per kilogram charge up to
20kg. This means depending on where you live, each carton will attract an initial charge
plus it’s weight multiplied by the per kilogram charge. Any orders over 20kg will need to
be packed into 2 or more cartons and therefore will attract 2 or more base charges plus
the overall weight charge. In other words, you are better off to keep your order just
under 20 kg than just over. Also, your base charge is better spread over 10 – 20 kg than 1
or 2kg.
FASTWAY COURIERS Fastway Couriers is the best option
if you are in the local region to us and for small amounts to cities and major towns. They
also have a variable base charge per carton (or sack) depending on where you live. If you
are located on the North Coast of NSW or parts of the Gold Coast this base rate covers up
to 25kg. Therefore your freight will be maximised by ordering larger amounts (up to 25kg)
rather than smaller amounts. For other areas the base rate covers the first 5kg and then
for every extra 5kg or part there of, it is an extra $3.50 up to 25kg. Your freight will
be maximised by sticking to the 5 kg increments, rather than 6, 11, 16 kg etc. All
customers who choose Fastway Couriers are better keeping to 25kg rather than just going
over or alternatively, getting an extra 25kg.
STARTRACK
EXPRESS Star Track is a very fast and economical method for larger orders between
major towns and cities. Currently, it is not being quoted in our online system but we are
happy to get a quote should you request one or we believe that your freight needs would be
better met by Star Track.
They have a variable base rate but it is per order
rather than per carton. The overall weight or (cubic volume) is then multiplied by a
variable per kg rate and added on plus a fuel levy (varies each month).
How
long does it take?
We, at Santos, endeavour to get your order packed and
out the door within 2 to 3 days of you placing it*, often sooner. Our warehouse is located
in a small town on the North Coast of NSW so this does impact on delivery times as we are
not in a major city. Most destinations along the eastern Seaboard would be served within 1
to 3 days of leaving here but as you head further west or off major routes that would
extend to 4 – 5 days. Parts of South Australia, Tasmania, Western Australia and Northern
Territory could take 10 – 14 working days. This needs to be considered as we can’t
guarantee the temperatures/conditions once the carton leaves here.
* We are not open weekends and some orders may be held up by waiting for stock to
arrive but we will contact you if this is the case.
