This extra virgin, cold pressed hemp seed oil is from hemp seed grown in TASMANIA.
The seeds are processed in Victoria by an approved certified organic (NASAA) facility –
ensuring high quality, chemical free pressing and processing.
The hemp seed oil is nitrogen flushed and kept refridgerated in order to maintain absolute
freshness (food grade nitrogen is used - there are several different qualities of nitrogen). Please
keep the oil refridgerated at home, particularly once opened.
The oil we have is stored in tins which are food grade and lined so oil does not come into
contact with metal. The use of tins is an excellent alternative to glass as hemp oil is high in
EFA’s which attract oxygen and easily absorb sunlight, both of which are main contributors to
the degradation of the oil.
Using the nitrogen in the decanting process and the total block out to sunlight assists greatly
in maintaining a premium product and high EFA’s.
This from Wikipedia: "About 30–35% of the weight of hempseed is an edible oil that
contains about 80% as essential fatty acids (EFAs); i.e., linoleic acid, omega-6 (LA, 55%),
alpha-linolenic acid, omega-3 (ALA, 22%), in addition to gamma-linolenic acid, omega-6 (GLA,
1–4%) and stearidonic acid, omega-3 (SDA, 0–2%).
The proportions of linoleic acid and alpha-linolenic acid in one tablespoon per day (15 ml) of
hempseed oil easily provides human daily requirements for EFAs."
Apart from hemp seed oils amazing nutrition, it's also one of the best oils you can use on
your skin!
In Australia the consumption of hemp seed oil is illegal. In most other countries including in
Europe, America and Canada it is legal...
