Sticky Date & Apple Bars

Description :

If possible, allow this mixture to mature for 1-2 days before eating - it will get stickier and better
Makes about 16 bars

Ingredients : 115g organic butter
50g soft dark brown sugar
50g golden syrup
115g organic dates, chopped
115g organic rolled oats
115g organic wholemeal self-raising flour
225g organic eating apples, peeled, cored & grated
5-10ml organic lemon juice
20-25 organic walnut halves
Recipe_details : Preheat the oven to 190. Line an 18-20cm square or rectangular loose-based cake tin. In a large pan, heat the butter, sugar, syrup and dates, stirring until the dates soften completely.

Gradually work in the oats, flour, apples and lemon juice untill well mixed. Spoon into the tin and spread out evenly. Top with the walnut halves.

Bake for 30 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 170 and bake for 10-20 minutes more, until firm to the touch and golden. Cut into squares or bars while still warm, and keep for 1-2 days before eating.
