Byron Bay Surf Festival
The last weekend of October was marked by one of the most vibrant and colourful festivals, local to the Byron Bay region – The Byron Bay Surf Festival.
A community of ocean lovers, wave riders, artists, eco conscious stalls and organic local food creators gathered together to showcase their goods over the two day event held at main beach.
The sun was shining on the tops of the tipi pop up shops, the wind was a warm gusty northerly and the smiles were beaming in joy for the feeling of everyone getting together to celebrate something that unites man with nature.
A love of the ocean and a love of bringing back a sense of community surf culture to our beautiful home of Byron Bay.
Santos was proud to be a sponsor of this year’s festival and had our first food stall at the event.
Josh our friendly warehouse juice bar manager gathered his team and set up shop selling everything from freshly squeezed organic juices through to delicious chocolate brownies and locally made organic bakes and pies.
The festival attracted a beautiful crowd of locals and visitors from around Australia and the world.
The Saturday was eventful with talks by surfing legends, yoga classes, panels and live music by our very own local up and coming band, Tora.
To conclude the evening, a concert with famous acts such as Donavan Frankenreiter, Band of Frequencies, Dave Rastovich and many more was held on main beach were festival goers and the local community could dance on into the evening.
It was a great community event, a gathering of kindred spirits, a celebration of mother nature and a culture of surfing that is so close to the local community of Byron and surf communities around the world.
Congratulations to the BBSF organisers for putting together such a special event – dedicated to raising awareness about the ocean and surf culture.
