Celebrating Our Team of Packers
At the Santos Organics warehouse in Byron Bay we still try to maintain a
personal touch. In amongst the high tech, industrialized and often
impersonal world that we live in, here we actually still employ
“people” to pack down all those sacks of oats and rice, all
those boxes of almonds and sultanas into all those 1kg bags you receive. We
don’t use packing machines.
It’s a team of dedicated and passionate people who work hard with their hands, a scoop and a set of scales. It’s that very same team that then decant litres and litres of olive oil, agave, tamari and honey into bottles and tubs for you to enjoy. And they do it with love. And that makes our food special.

WHO OFTEN DOUBLE UP IN DIFFERENT ROLES AS WELL – SERVING, DELIVERING, CLEANING AND OFFERING PRODUCT INFORMATION TO MANY OF OUR LOCAL CUSTOMERS.
Some of them have been with Santos for over 15 years!! Some of them started doing work experience and progressed on to a permanent positions. They come from diverse cultural backgrounds and work harmoniously together in the vibrant “hub” of the warehouse.
Santos Organics prides itself on employing over 70 people between the 3 stores in the Byron Shire. In a region that struggles to provide enough work opportunities for its swelling population, we prioritise creating those opportunities where we can over switching to machines. It’s a tough call sometimes as we try to hold our ground against stiff competition and rising costs. But you feel the difference when you walk in the door here and we believe you taste the difference as well!!!
