For the fun and love of giving

For the fun and love of giving
Each year, the staff at Santos Organics donate 1% of their salary to a staff charity fund which is then matched dollar for dollar by Santos and distributed to a number of International, National and Local organisations. So that everyone has a say in the organisations that are chosen, Santos staff are invited to put forward their nominations and then these nominations are voted on at a staff meeting.

In the past, Santos Organics staff have chosen to support organisations such as Sea Shepherd, Kiva Organisation, Byron Youth Services, Byron Shire Chemical Free Landcare and the Mullumbimby Community Gardens as a way for us to give back to our local community as well as support some important International and National groups that share our values and vision.

Last year, we also distributed funds to a number of schools to help with various gardening and educational projects. This year, we’re excited to announce that the staff charity fund contributions have been allocated to an even wider range of charities, local projects and organisations than in previous years.

For our local projects, we have chosen to support the Living Community Festival and the Mullumbimby Community Gardens as well as various other projects at the Community Gardens because this work is very much in line with our commitment to the health and wellbeing of individuals and our local community.

For us, caring for our land in natural, chemical free ways is integral to the long term sustainability of our Earth and its resources and we are proud to be able to support the invaluable work and commitment of such an important community organisation. Other Community Gardens projects include Future Feeders, Eco Centro and Madhima Gulgan Rainforest and Bush Tucker Trail. Some other local organisations we have chosen include Rainforest Kindy, WIRES Northern Rivers and the Environmental Defenders Office in Lismore.

The National organisations we’ve chosen this year are Australian Wildlife Conservancy, National Toxics Network, GM Free Australia, Australian Food Sovereignty and Lock the Gate.

We have also chosen to continue our support of the amazing dedication and tireless work of
Sea Shepherd.

Finally, the International organisations we have chosen this year include Kiva Organisation, Medicins Sans Frontiers, Oxfam and Save Japan Dolphins. In particular, we have chosen to continue our support of Kiva Organisation as it is such a unique project that enables businesses and individuals to provide micro-loans to small businesses in need of financial support in
developing countries around the world. The businesses eventually repay the money borrowed and then the money is available again to lend to someone else. For us, we strongly felt that this type of project truly captures the spirit of giving and helping people in need.

For more information on any of these wonderful organisations, please look them up individually online.
