Santos warehouse going solar!!
March has been an exciting month for us as we commenced the installation of 100 solar panels on the roof of our warehouse!! Our 2 shops will be following closely behind.
Nickel Energy, a local business, has partnered with Santos Organics to shift our commitment to sustainability up another huge notch.
Once completed at the warehouse, these 100 panels equate to a 25kwh system that can generate an average of 105 kilowatt hours (kWh) per day!!!
This 25kwh system will offset 40 tonnes of carbon OR the equivalent of 2129 trees planted or 53 cars off the road.
In order to keep the products we supply you as fresh as possible we have to run several large coolrooms and it is through the day that they really chew up the power. They have to work harder to combat the heat and the constant opening and closing of doors as we grab stock out.
Knowing that all that daytime power is now produced by our own solar panels definitely makes us all feel better here and not so compromised.
