Certified Organic: ACO
Grown by Tim and Louise Dougherty.
The Dougherty’s Certified Organic pecan trees are grown on the flood plains of the Upper Clarence
River at Tabulam in Northern NSW. They are a family run business able to do all the tasks themselves
- from harvest through to processing.
Tim and Louise first planted pecans about 20 years ago. Pecans were chosen as they are very
suitable to the Clarence Valley’s climate and alluvial soils, and there are no diseases or pests
that greatly affect the crop in this area. Their orchard consists of about 950 trees on
approximately 50 acres.
A cracking and shelling machine was recently installed on the farm, enabling their pecan crop to be
sold locally, rather than exported as nut in shell.
