Our Himalayan salt is sourced sustainably from salt mines in
North Western Pakistan. The supplier visit Pakistan often and work closely with a family business
there and they confirmed that there are no children working in the salt mines.
The salt is initially fractured off the walls by hammer pressure drills and then rolled out of the
mines in 40-50kg pieces. These pieces are then ground into smaller pieces by food grade metal
rollers. The smaller pieces are then stone ground into superfine particles and the salt is screened
for contaminants in Pakistan.
Once in Australia, the supplier hand sifts the salt to thoroughly clean it and to ensure that all
possible contaminants are removed. Our supplier has also had the salt tested for heavy metals and
the results have been clear. At no time has the salt been fumigated or irradiated on entering
Australia.
