Dulse is a type of red algae. It contains all the trace elements required by humans and also has a high protein content. In Iceland it is traditionally eaten with butter, but it can also be baked, used in soups, chowders sandwiches and salads or added to bread/pizza dough.

All seaweeds are rich sources of protein, calcium, iodine, magnesium, iron and folate. The kelp varieties also contain high levels of lignans, which act as antioxidants.
