Wakame
Country of Origin: Australia - Tasmania
Wakame is a variety of kelp and looks and tastes similar to spinach lasagne. It is used in the same
ways as Kombu.
All seaweeds are rich sources of protein, calcium, iodine, magnesium, iron and folate. The kelp
varieties also contain high levels of lignans, which are a type of antioxidant.
Tasmanian Wakame Organic is selectively harvested and dried using a combination of sun and mild
warm air-drying to ensure the natural integrity of the seaweed is maintained.
The dried Wakame is tested to rigorous standards in accordance with HACCP and organic standards.
Included in this testing regime are independent analyses by the Australian Radiation Protection and
Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA) to verify that all of the wakame products are free of anthropogenic
radioactive contamination.
