the goji berry, the NingXia Valley in China. The Goji berries are 100% pure - not watered
down...authentic.
Goji berries are the fruit that grow on a bush that develops like a vine when growing in the shade.
At the very largest, the goji berry bush will grow 6 feet tall and have a radius of around 3 feet.
There are an estimate of around 85 species of goji berry in Asia and 15 species in North and
Centrala America. The goji berries can vary in colour from pale yellow to firey orange and deep red.
The Asian species have been grown for approximatly 5000 years. The goji berries from the NingXia
valley are known to be of superior quality because the people of this region live longer
(centenarians) and age more gracefully. The Chinese hold a strong belief that this fruit can
significantly extend life.
Medicinally, the goji berry assists the body in adapting/coping with stresses through supporting
the adrenal glands. In chinese medicine these berries are said to enhance stamina, strength and
sexual energy. Overall, goji berries boost the immune system, increase alkalinity in the body,
improve digetion, improve eyesight and blood quality. It is not used to treat conditions, but used
to support a healing body. Goji berries contain amino acids (superfood guru David Wolfe claims they
contain all essential amino acids), fatty acids, 21 trace minerals including iron and zinc, B1, B2,
B6, vitamin E and high in anti-oxidants (2-4 times the amount found in bluberries). In fact research
ranks the NingXia goji as amongst the highest anti-oxidant superfoods in the world.
Recommended Daily Intake:
15-45grms of dried goji berries daily (approximatly a handful). There are usually 4-6 dried berries
per gram.
To obtain benefits, goji berries must be eaten on a regular basis.
The berries can be used in trail mixes, in teas and soups, smoothies or used like any other dried
fruit. Make sure to chew them well.
